Summary. This paper presents the stages of the rheumatism doctrine development, from the deep antiquity to the present days, and the portrays of the famous physicians who have made an invaluable contribution to the study of acute rheumatic fever and chronic rheumatic disease have become 105 illustrations, the latter were made on materials of the medallic art (a part of the historic discipline of numismatics).
