Methotrexate in the treatment of rheumatic diseases in children: current questions and answers

Summary. Rheumatic diseases in children are difficult to diagnose and treat. Methotrexate is widely used in the treatment of pediatric rheumatic diseases. Despite its use since the 1980s, practicing physicians still have a large number of open questions, which mainly concern its safety and tolerability. The article presents current data on the main adverse events of methotrexate treatment of children with rheumatic diseases, features of its tolerability, effective methods of its elimination and prevention, the possibility of vaccination of children receiving methotrexate and treatment of their comorbid diseases.
