TREATMENT AND PREVENTION OF GOUT ATTACKS: FOCUS ON QUALITY

Polyakova Daria

Summary. Gouty arthritis is diagnosed with absolute certainty, is rapidly controlled with pharmacotherapy, and is even considered an ideal model for investigating the appropriate management of patients with chronic pathology [1, 2]. There are three reasons: firstly, it is very common; secondly, it is capable of reverse development; thirdly, there are highly effective methods of treatment. Suboptimal therapeutic tactics, insufficient compliance, failure to achieve its goals — all this allows us to state the reduced quality of medical care for such patients [3]. With this publication, we want to emphasize the importance of a balanced approach to the management of patients with gout. It is based, on the one hand, on a long-term strategy of urate-lowering therapy (UZT), on the other hand, on the treatment and prevention of attacks. If not stopped in time, they dissuade the patient from continuing with UST, with subsequent undesirable consequences for health, work capacity and mortality. Since the safety of therapy, especially in this case, is the cornerstone of commitment, the drugs should be of the highest quality, and the treatment regimens should be carefully checked.
