Kazimirko V.K.

Summary. The main morphological manifestation of gout and atherosclerosis is inflammatory non-immune granulomas. The main cells in the gout granulomas are macrophages and giant multi-core cells. The main in the atherosclerotic granulomas are macrophages. The direct cause of the development of granulomas, respectively, is the crystals of uric acid and lipid pockets, mainly containing extracellular crystal cholesterol. These processes are the consequence the lack of an enzyme urikasе in the body and lysosomal enzymes in macrophages, which could destroy the molecule cholesterol.
