Summary. This paper is devoted to the history of rheumatology, provides the information about portraits of 65 famous personalities (emperors, statesmen, writers, painters, scientists, physicians, etc.) who suffered from gout, based on 162 numismatic materials (coins, medals), it is discussed the known features of the disease in these people.
