evidence-based recommendations of EULAR (2010) FOR Managing cardiovascular risk in patients with rheumatic arthritis and inflammatory arthritis
Summary. The article presents new recommendations EULAR for management of cardiovascular risk in patients with rheumatic inflammatory diseases of the joints, published in 2010.
10 recommendations for assessing cardiovascular risk in rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis and psoriatic arthritis to prevention of cardiovascular risk were formulated. A detailed description and justification for each recommendation is carried. EULAR not only introduced the new recommendations, but also identified promising areas of research on which to focus further research. This seems especially important, as it concerns such issues as assessment of cardiovascular risk in patients with joints rheumatic diseases. Recommendations call to assess all inflammatory joint diseases as conditions associated with high cardiovascular risk. When predicting the risk must be taken into account the levels of total cholesterol and its fractions, receiving glucocorticoids, smoking, use of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. It is emphasized that the evaluation of cardiovascular risk and should be changed every year, particularly in patients with highly active rheumatic process, visceral involvement and seropositivity. It is also emphasized that adequate control of inflammation activity needed to reduce cardiovascular risk and mortality.
