Summary. Research objective was — to find pathomorphological changes of hip joint tissues, frequency of their gradation expressiveness occurrence, and also — correlation dependences between some morphological indices of damage in joint tissue fragments which have been removed by joint arthroplasty operations at patients with the peripheral form of ankylosing spondylitis (AS). The object of research were resected tissue fragments of 30 hip joints from 25 patients in whom by clinical-radiological symptoms signs the peripheral form of AS has been diagnosed: femur heads (FH) — 29 objects, acetabulum — 13 objects, and an articular capsule — 10 objects. As a result of performed research it was found that at the peripheral form AS in hip joint tissues, at various disease remoteness, exists a complex of chronic inflammatory, discirculatory, dystrophic, destructive and reparative morphological changes which lead to gradual irreversible destruction of normal structures of hip joint and progressing of changes, characteristic for coxarthrosis. In this work the occurrence frequency of various expressiveness degree cases of gradual morphological indices of joint tissue damage was evaluated, and also correlations between them were established. Strong and significant positive correlation dependency was determined between «activity of an inflammation in spongiosa» of FH and «inflammation activity in synovial layer» of articular capsule; significant correlation of moderate closeness — between synovial layer «hypertrophy of villi» and «inflammation activity in synovial layer». Positive correlation of moderate closeness was found also between «dystrophic-destructive changes» of FH and «hypertrophy of villi».
