The efficacy of carvedilol in patients with essential hypertension associated with hyperuricemia

Summary. Summary. 32 patients with І–ІІ stages of essential hypertension and hyperuricemia in age from 35 to 55 years in the dynamics of 12-weeks carvedilol monotherapy on the background of low-purine and low-calorie diet and controlled physical activity were examined. It was estimated that the indicated therapy resulted in the expressed antihypertensive effect, which was accompanied the reliable decline of levels of atherogenic lipid fractions in the blood, improvement of insulin sensitiveness, including, in patients with glucose tolerance disorders. In addition, this therapy showed also meaningful hypouricemic influence and for certain reduced the level of microalbuminuria in analyzed patients’ cohort.
