Biliavska Iu.V. 1, Shmanko O.V.2

Summary. Summary. Objective. To perform clinic and laboratory picture of undifferentiated arthritis (UA) in patients with potentiality to rheumatoid arthritis (RA) development. To follow up its evolution during first years of the disease, to prove the program of appropriate treatment.
Materials andmethods. 72 patients with UA: 53(73.6%) women, 19 (26.4%) men, mean age 41.4±2.9 years. Mean disease duration 3,6±1.7months. General health, joint status (painful joint count, swollen joint count, Ritchie index), functional condition (HAQ index) and systemic disturbances were assessed. Disease activity score (DAS) in DAS4 modification was used to assess the pathological process activity. ESR, C-re-active protein and hemoglobin level were the indices of laboratory disease activity. Serum level of anti-cyclic citrullinated antibodies (anti-CCP) by immunoflu-orescence method (IFM) using commercial kit DIA-STAT(Axis Shield, UK), total rheumatoid factor (RF), IgM RF by IFM («Vectorbest», Russia) and IgM RF by latex-test were assessed in all patients. Patients were examined every 3 months during 12-month follow up. Accuracy of diagnosis was checked at every examination.

Results. The most important predictors of RA development were: morning stiffness duration (r=+0.32;)
