The «Ukrainian Journal of Rheumatology» accepts the original articles, reviews of literature, clinical cases devoted to the topical issues of rheumatology, never previously published, and not being considered for publication in other publishing structures. Responsibility for reliability of information and originality of the materials is borne by the authors. When submitting the text, the author transfers to the journal the right of the first publication of this work, provided that the article is accepted for publication. The works executed without observance of the editorial board’s requirements, shall not be registered.
The journal is published in three languages: Russian, Ukrainian, and English.
All articles undergo compulsory review by the profile members of the editorial board and blind independent confidential review. Comments submitted by the external reviewers are returned to the author(-s) for review. The authors should focus on the accuracy, conciseness, and clarity in presentation of the material and avoid lengthy introductions, repetition of data from tables and figures in the text, discussions beyond the scope of the problem under discussion. During the works editing, the editors reserve the right to change style, but not content of the articles. Refusal to publish may not be accompanied by an explanation of its cause and can not be considered as a negative conclusion about scientific and practical value of the work. The works sent to the editorial board are not returned. After publication, all copyrights belong to the editorial board.
A manuscript can be written in Ukrainian, English or Russian and should be accompanied by 6–8 key words and a summary. Original and problematic works should be clearly structured and divided into sections with headings: summary, introduction, object and methods of research, results, discussion, conclusions, and references.
An electronic manuscript is provided with a mandatory indication of the used text editor. The text is to be typed in the Microsoft Word editor with the Times New Roman, Arial 14 font, without tabs and hyphens. The sheet size is 210×297 mm (A4 format). The interval between the lines — one and a half, the field — 3×1.5 cm. Do not break the article into separate files. It is not recommended to hyphenate words in a text editor.
All designations of different measures, units of measurement, results of clinical and laboratory studies should be given in accordance with the International System (SI), all terms should be unified taking into account the International anatomical and Іnternational histological nomenclature, names of diseases — taking into account the International Classification of Diseases of 10th revision, medicines — taking into account the State Pharmacopoeia (X, XI). Names of companies and preparations must be given in the original transcription.
The Title page should include title of the work, indicate full name of the organization(-s) where the work was done, names and initials of all authors, full address (phone number, fax and e-mail), postal code, abbreviations listed in alphabetical order and general number of figures and tables. The title page should be on a separate page.
The Summary should reflect clearly the purpose (hypothesis), the object and methods of research, main results and conclusions, set out in three languages (Russian, Ukrainian and English). The limit is 1800 characters.
Introduction. Brief review is required for: statement of the problem in general and its connection with important scientific and practical tasks; analysis of the latest research and publications in which the solution of this problem has been initiated and on which the author relies, identification of previously unresolved parts of the general problem to which this article is devoted.
Purpose of the article (hypothesis). Goal or task of the research should be formulated briefly and clearly.
Materials and methods. Design of the research and data analysis should be described briefly, but clearly, so that other researchers can reproduce the results of the work. This section should describe clearly and in detail how patients were selected for diagnosis and treatment (including control groups), including selection criteria and exclusions. At the end of the section «Materials and methods», the «Data processing» subsection is required, which indicates which methods of data processing the author used. When describing the research structure and statistical methods, it is necessary to specify which statistical package, which computer programs available for the average user, were used in the statistical processing of the results.
Results and discussion are a summary of the main material of the research with full justification of the scientific results obtained.
Results. They should be presented in a logical sequence in the text, in tables and figures. In the text, the data of tables and figure should not be repeated, just compared. Summing up the quantitative data, it is necessary to give not only relative (for example, percentages), but also absolute values, and also indicate which statistical methods were used to analyze them.
Discussions. This section contains only interpretation of the results, not their repetition. New and important aspects of the research results should be identified; possible mechanisms or interpretations of these data should be analyzed and, if possible, compared with the data of other researchers.
Conclusions. In this section the results of solving the problem, the treatment indicated in the title and purpose of the article should be formulated.
Tables (links and notes to tables, signatures to figures should be placed directly below them) should be placed on separate pages and numbered with Arabic numerals in accordance with their mention in the text. Graphs and diagrams must be presented in Excel format, pictures — as files in .tif or .jpg format with a resolution of 300 dots per inch (horizontal dimension of the picture is not less than 90 mm), graphs built in the program Statistica — in PDF format. Numbers of figures should correspond to the order of placement in the text.
References. Unpublished data should be quoted in the text of the article. The identifier of the digital object (DOI) must be specified in the link, if available. In the original article, no more than 30 sources are allowed, in the literature review — no more than 60. Examples of link design are indicated below.
Literary references in the text are made by placing in the parentheses the names (surnames) and initials of one or two authors and the subsequent year of publication. It is also possible to quote in the form: «… according to I.I. Ivanov et al. (1997)…». In cases where there are more than two authors, after the surname and initials, the first one is marked «et al.» And then the year of publication. If there are two or more works by the same author(s) dating from the same year of publication, the letters a, b, c and so should be used. after the year of publication (1995a, 2000b). References to several primary sources in the text are in chronological order of publications.
Absolutely all references cited in the paper should be presented at the end of the text in the list of original sources submitted on separate pages (printed at two intervals), designed according to the Harvard system, that is alphabetically by the first author, then — by the second, and hereinafter — all works by more than two authors should be listed in chronological order.

Information about the conflict of interests. The authors must disclose potential and apparent conflicts of interest associated with the manuscript. Conflict of interests of one or several authors is not an excuse for refusing to publish the article. Concealing by the authors of potential or apparent conflicts of interests, discovered by the editorial board, may be a reason for refuse to consider and publish the manuscript.
Protection of humans and animals in the conduct of scientific research. If there are descriptions of human experiments in the article, the authors should indicate whether they were conducted in accordance with the ethical standards of the committee responsible for human experiments (which is a part of the institution or the state) and the 1975 Helsinki Declaration and its revised version of year 2000. In doubtful cases, the authors must provide a justification for their approaches and evidence that the expert council of the institution has approved aspects of the research that are questionable.
In describing experiments involving animals, the authors should indicate compliance with the requirements of the «Rules for performance of works using experimental animals» and the rules for establishment of maintenance and use of laboratory animals.
Statement of publishing ethics and malpractice
Reporting researches with human subjects, indicate whether the research procedures followed standards of local ethical committee on human experimentation (institutional or regional) or with the Helsinki Declaration (1964, amended in 2008) of the World Medical Association. If doubt exists local ethic review, approved the doubtful aspects of the study, must be presented.
The publications should be submitted only in case when patients presented written Informed Consent to participate and if local ethical committee approval of the study can be documented (presenting ethical approval). Patients have a right for privacy that should not be violated without informed consent. Identification of any information including patients’ names, initials, or hospital numbers is prohibited, especially in any illustrative material, except the cases when this information in extremely important from scientific point of view and patient presented Informed Consent to use this information.
When performing experiments on animals or animal tissues, authors should seek approval by local ethic committee and should strictly follow the institutional and national guide for the care and use of laboratory animals. At time of manuscript submission, authors should provide information on the study approval by local ethical committee.
The authors, reviewers, publishers and readers should communicate in polite and constructive manner.
Intentional assumption of authorship and data falsification are unacceptable.
Nonpublished data from submitted publications cannot be used in personal aims and transmitted to third persons without authors’ written consent. All information and ideas must stay confidential.
Authors are responsible for authenticity of the scientific data.
Co-authors must be persons with remarkable contribution into submitted research.
