Summary. Summary. The article presents the literature review devoted to the problem of calcium homeostasis. It contains material on the role of PTH and vitamin D in the regulation of calcium causes of hypo- and hypercalcemia. The role of osteotropic effects of magnesium and some trace elements is described. The importance of evidence concerning efficacy and safety of calcium and vitamin D for the prevention and treatment of patients with complex background of osteoporosis on the shortage of calcium intake in all age groups is emphasizes.
