PSYCHOEMOTIONAL DISORDERS IN PATIENTS WITH RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS AND CORRECTION OF THEM BY PAROXETINE

Summary. Summary. 204 patient were examined with rheumatoid arthritis and among them were 146 patients with different level of psychoemotional disorders. In order to define the impact of paroxetine on psychoemotional state and dynamics of clinical and laboratory parameters, 146 RA patients with psychoemotional disorders were divided into two groups of identical age and sex, clinical symptoms of the disease and psychometric characteristics. Patients in both groups received conventional treatment, which included receiving stable doses of anti-inflammatory and DMARDs (methotrexate, leflunomide or sulfasalazine).The patients of the second group additionally received paroxetine 20 mg once a day (morning) during 12 weeks. Suggested scheme of the treatment with paroxetine was more effective as for correction psychoemotional state and for basic manifestations of the disease. There was a significant decrease in the level of anxiety, depressive, hypochondriacal manifestations, asthenisation and neuroticism. The effectiveness of treatment for RA with the inclusion of paroxetine was also higher with parameters of ACR 50 increased by 32% and ACR 20 increased by31.5% in difference from the traditional scheme of treatment. Received results gives the reason to recommend paroxetine for correction psycho-emotional disorders for patients with RA.
